Panchvati

Panchvati, meaning “a grove of five sacred trees”, is one of the most important places in the Ramayana. It was here that Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita, and Lakshman spent several years of their exile after leaving Chitrakoot. Situated on the banks of the holy Godavari River, Panchvati is remembered as a place of peace, devotion, and family love, but also as the site where some of the most critical events of the Ramayana unfolded.

It is in Panchvati that Shurpanakha, the sister of Ravana, first approached Ram and Lakshman, leading to the chain of events that resulted in the abduction of Sita. This moment transformed the journey of Shri Ram from an exile into a warrior’s mission against adharma. Panchvati, therefore, is both a place of devotion and an eternal reminder of sacrifice and courage.

At Ramayan Vatika, Bareilly, the Panchvati section has been recreated with symbolic trees, floral sculptures, and scenic beauty to remind visitors of the divine yet emotional atmosphere of this sacred grove. It helps us relive the lessons of faith, love, and endurance that Panchvati.
